Tinchebray has made a big effort this year to attract visitors. An
old imposing building on the edge of the town has been restored and
converted into an exhibition centre, and many of the old footpaths have
been cleared and colour coded. To encourage the use of these footpaths, many of the villages in the area organised walks of between 6 and 12 km along them, some during the day but some, early in the summer, by torch light in the evening. Each walk ended with refreshments in the local village hall. A quiz, in the form of a booklet with map was available, asking questions about the villages.
